I got kids and live by the river we have poisonous river snakes around here. Not sure their official name but we call them Water Moccasins hopefully I spelled that right.
You would be surprised. Here in Arkansas we have like 8 or 9 different species of non venomous water snakes. I caught one 2 weeks ago and made a blog about it. It made runner up in Papa Pepper's photo contest. It is the Cotton Mouths you have to worry about. Cats keep unwanted pests away... I have a feral cat that I feed that kills snakes... and keeps out mice. Its effin swweeeettt..
Yes they do. Except I wouldn't want the cats killing snakes. Snakes are good and keep mice away too.

Ill check it out... I don't normally look at the big dogs posts. Its still pretty awesome though. Esspecially how he tries to get everyone involved.
