ومن فوائد الشاي الصحية المساعدة على عملية الهضم لذا حرص الصحراويون على تناول الشاي بد وجبات اللحم الدسمة . وعموما لا يعتبر الشاي في الصحراء مشروبا تقليديا فحسب ، بل سمة من سمات الكرم الصحراوي ، وعلامة من علامات الحفاوة وحسن الاستقبال ، حيث أن الصحراويين ينادون ضيوفهم لتناول الشاي أكثر من الأكل.

ويطلق الصحراويين علىالقيام المعروف بجودة إعداد كؤوس الشاي فلان تياي على وزن فعال ، ومن الطقوس لدى الصحراويين أثناء جلسة الشاي الرمي بالأكواب ( الفارغة ) في اتجاه القيام إقرارا منهم بجودة كؤوس الشاي ، خاصة إذا كان المجلس يتكون من الشباب .

ويطلق الصحراويين على الشاي بالغ الجودة هذا اتاي يكلع ادواخ ، أي أن هذا الشاي مزيل لآلام الرأس ، خاصة كؤوس الشاي التي يتم إعدادها عصرا ، التي يطلق عليها الصحراويين أدحميس ويستحيل أن يهمل الصحراوي احتساء أتاي الدحميس إلا في ظروف قاهرة .
