The Mirror Effect: You & Your Surrounding
It's said that you're the average of 5 people you spend most your time with. When you spend time with positive people, you'll become more positive and optimist. When you spend time with negative ones, you're more likely to be on the pessimistic side. Though this mechanism relates to the law of average, I do believe that it is applicable on the rate of 60/40.
The 60% is ourselves and 40% is the people around us. And here's why:
1. You control your environment, not the other way around.
2. Although it is true that your surrounding shapes you, if your mental power, mindset, and thought processes are strong enough, you won't put your life, mistakes, and success on others. It is YOU who shape your own reality.
3. Your environment is just another sub-environment. This sub-environment is being controlled by another bigger sub-environment, which indirectly influence this circle. Think of ourselves as a small circle and these 5 people around is another bigger circle. Between these 5 people, there are another bigger circle surrounding their environment. Everything is interconnected.
4. This 40% of other environment is just an external world. What's important is another 60%; your internal world. Know thyself, the first rule of life and almost everything.
5. If that 40% is the people you can't just ignore and removed like your bestfriends, families who aren't always supportive but they are your bloods and loved ones, you don't have to discard them. Instead, add another people, the ones you wanted to be with, the good and positive people. In turns, the good percentage will increase and you'll have the environment you've always wanted. Everything is about leverage.

"You control your environment, not the other way around".
Totally agree. That can also mean that if you are not comfortable with your surroundings, but you don't change it, then you are simply making it last.
