How to Approach Individuals with Borderline Personality ?

in #motivation24 days ago

Borderline personality starts in early adulthood and shows up in many situations. It includes unstable relationships with other people, inconsistent feelings and perceptions of oneself, avoiding being alone or separated, and acting on impulses a lot.

A lot of the time, people who have a lot of affective inconsistency change feelings very quickly and sudden. When someone has this personality structure, they may feel very angry for no apparent reason or have emotional ups and downs that last for hours. A constant sense of emptiness is another trait that can be seen in this personality structure.

People who have a borderline personality may act in ways like being too suspicious of themselves or thinking they are more important than they really are.

People with unstable personality structure have tense and inconsistent relationships with other people. People in this group might want to spend a lot of time with someone they just met and tell that person very private things.

On top of that, they might move quickly and put these people down. They might see the other person as honest and helpful some of the time, but all of a sudden, they might start to see them as mean and not honest.

An important part of having an unstable personality is being afraid of being left alone.

To stop their fear of being left alone, people with this personality type may act in strong and rash ways, like always being close to the person they are afraid of being left alone with or calling them on the phone when they are not with them.

Unfortunately, because they have trouble controlling their feelings, they may also act out or hurt themselves, which makes it hard to keep interactions with these people.

Behaviours that show signs of a borderline personality include acting on impulse and doing dangerous things like hurting themselves, thinking about suicide, or trying to kill themselves.

From time to time, people may act impulsively in areas like sexuality, spending too much money, driving while impaired, binge eating, or drinking too much.

Instinctively acting out like this is because the person has harmful traits towards himself.

We don't fully understand what causes borderline personality structure yet, but there are some things that put people at risk.

Some of the things that can make someone develop a borderline personality are traumatic memories, past events, or interactions with the setting in which the person grew up.

For instance, being neglected or abused as a child and being maltreated are some of these causes. There is, of course, no certainty because these factors are different for each person.

If someone with a borderline personality gets help from a professional, that professional should be there for that person and make them feel accepted.

It's important to say that you agree with this help. Also, if he is far away from getting help, it would be good for him to help him with this problem.
