Learn to say no: advice and examples of refusal messages

in #motivationlast month

Learn to say no? Why are we frightened to decline? To assertively decline a request? I'll answer all these questions below. I didn't have the guts to deny requests a few years back. So I had additional requests to process. It strained my mind and wasted time.

Thus, I will share my ways for saying no with grace in business and life. Discover different types of "no," samples of request rejection messages, etc. Now we go!

Know you may fear saying no for numerous reasons:

Angst about hurting, offending, or rejecting others.
You dread rejection or judgement.
Fear of missing an opportunity owing to bad judgement.

Considering someone else more valuable. Your upbringing and life experience often shape this way of thinking (I know).

Be aware that individuals are right to ask, as it may work or be denied. Learning to say no is your responsibility. Take action instead of questioning why someone is asking you something, such as "this is inappropriate!"

I think there are three forms of “no”:

The definite “no” that leaves no room for “maybe”.
The “no” with a compromise or alternative.
The “no” that delays the response deadline. I call this emergency solution “the joker card”.

You must learn to say no. Why? Because rejecting others means:

Say yes to yourself.
Trust each other.
Respect each other.
Save time and boost output.
Accept your health.

Entrepreneurs should know that as their businesses grow, so will their demand. You must be able to decline readily.

Avoid delaying the issue with comments like “ now it's not possible, but we can talk about it again in a month”. I did this often at first since I couldn't refuse. Effects were:

People always responded to me on time.

Added to all the fresh requests I'd received!

Learn to say no, and it will get easier with practice.

A assertive person may communicate an idea or perspective without being aggressive, controlling, or manipulative. Even when they refuse, don't make your interlocutor uncomfortable.

Some folks are still upset by refuse. Remember the Toltec agreements—people decide how to interpret our speech. When saying no, be assertive and considerate to your dialogue partner ❤️.

Know that a false yes is a no!
Today, I decline many inquiries. I probably say one “yes” for every ninety-nine “no”. I promise this wasn't the case when I started. I had to learn to say no to expand my business. So I defined my mindset!

Learning to say no: how? The first step is to realise that a false yes is a no! If asked, don't automatically reply "yes," then decline.

Make your brain automatically reject everything.
Second way to say no: mentally say no to everything! Then maybe think why you would say yes.

Train your thinking to routinely decline requests. This method works best:

Accept only legitimate inquiries.
Fear of judgement, missing opportunities, pleasing others, etc. should not blind you.

Clarify (and put down your reasons for saying yes to analyse them before responding positively).

If unsure, take your time to think. No need to respond within 30 minutes 😉.
