Even Street Vendor Can Save Money Up to $1000

About 2 days ago, when i want to go to an internet shop, i stop by to a small shop to have a dinner. In Indonesia, we call it "Warteg", let say it is a street vendor seller. The seller was a couple, and i meet with the woman. That woman, looks really simple... or should i say looks poor. She came from Brebes, some region in Central Java, Indonesia. Like all we know that we usually underestimate them because the way they look is not the same as we were... the citizens. When i enter the shop, i ask for a rice, soup, and tofu for a dinner. It's only Rp 5.000,00 (less than $1). You see.... the dinner was really cheap and usually we thought that the seller never be able to collect even million rupiah.
After i manage to finish my dinner, i just want to say hello to that woman because she looks tired and never be able to sleep well for cooking all of the dinner. Then our conversation begin, start from a story about her family, about her neighborhood, about the building that she make for her shop, until she share about her financial management. Well it looks cool from beginning... and what is really cool for me is her financial management. She can collect and save money everyday until reach the amount of 10 million rupiah ($1100) and what make me really surprised is that she collects the money ONLY IN HER BAG, not in the bank! Wow!

I am surprised because actually i even can't save the money in my own place.. Well, actually most of the people can't save the money like the way she do. We... The city people that always live in glamour way... always spend money a lot, and in the end, don't have a deposit in their account. But she is different. Even her lifestyle is looks poor, she can manage to save a high amount of her money. That's terrific!! So that night, i try to learn a lot more from her... the amazing thing is that she can give a money to all of her family that need a loan.
But, when i speak with her a lot more, just one thing that unfortunately she doesn’t know and don't want to know. It is about the entire financial thing. She even doesn’t know and actually don't trust about banking system. Her philosophy is that she collects the money for living and she can give it to others. The result was quite awesome... she can manage all of those things, she even can send her children to the school. She can manage her life, and she can manage the life quality for her children.
That night, i learn that we must not judge the book by it's cover!! We spend money a lot and in the end we don't have anything. But if we remain humble, struggle for living, learn something new, and always go forward, we are the truly the rich one. That woman, she was rich because her perseverance and her loyalty to her family. Although she was still close minded about financial system, but i admire that woman. She work hard, didn't care about all people's opinion about her, especially about street vendors that usually we underestimated, but she overcome with those thing. She is the one of many people that wins and success in the end. Well, how about you, my friend?
