I think it can be done but only if they manage to offer affordable cars, with good ranges and good design. So far model 3 from Tesla is a good example. Although is someone the price down to 20k it will certainly help with the adoption.

It's still a young market. It has a lot of catching up to do, but the big companies are rushing to get new models out now they know there is demand. Tesla helped with that
