Miss Sloane: Why I hadn't seen this movie
I'm a fan of Chastain. I'm a fan of Chastain from Take Shelter, Mama and Jolene (yes, Jolene); I'm a fan of Chastain Level: the Bryce Dallas Howard Distinction. But for some reason I had never seen Miss Sloane before, I think it was the fact that she arrived almost at the awards season last year (trying to compete, I hope) and in that she was drowned in the frenzy of "you have to see everything that is nominated.
I think that in every actor's career there is this movie, which is in large part a showcase of how attractive it is and how well it can act and not so much a whole film (Steve Jobs, Only God Forgives, Stoker); because this is Miss Sloane for Jessica Chastain, but we must admit that she knows how to appropriate this space, each scene, however empty it may be, is perfectly acted, it's super stylish and it's a fun movie.
Should you see Miss Sloane? Yes, I think it's a film that has merit in being an important advance in the fight of form vs. background as an artistic expression in itself; if you are Chastain fans you definitely have to see it (even if only to remember how pretty it is, or to have your dose of it until X-Men Dark Phoenix comes out.
