The MonsterVerse - Godzilla, King Kong and what we may expect from the Future of the Monsters #2

What might the future of Godzilla look like? We have already discussed the possible return of Mothra. But this head of King Ghidorah is really interesting. In Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah from 1991 Ghidorah is also killed and beheaded by Godzilla. The head of the monster will then be used in the future to create a robot-monster-mixture called Mecha-King Ghidorah. This will then be sent back in time to defeat Godzilla.

Now, i think we can exclude time travel, but the possibility that the ecoterrorists use the head of King Ghidorah to build a similar Robo monster exists. This would have given them a creature they could control themselves to take action against Godzilla. And I would love to see a fight between Godzilla and Mecha-King Ghidorah. This is only probably something for a Godzilla movie after Godzilla vs. Kong.

At the same time there is the possibility to see and revive another cult monster of the Godzilla era. In Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters a special weapon called Oxygen Destroyer is used. This weapon was already used in the original Godzilla movie from 1954 to kill the monster. But the Oxygen Destroyer had unexpected aftereffects, which only became clear in Godzilla vs. Destoroyah in 1995.

It became known that microscopically small organisms were hit by the use of the Oxygen Destroyer, which then began to mutate. Over the years, these creatures grew bigger and bigger and finally merged into the giant monster Destoroyah. So could Godzilla have something to do with this monster in a later film? This small details are interesting and I personally think that it laid the foundation for another movie.

Skull Island, the home of King Kong could also be the Monster Island from the old movies of the Godzilla series. In the movies from that time the Japanese government managed to collect all the monsters in one place at a certain time. This place was called Monsterland or Monster Island. If now all titans and monsters known to us so far are on their way to Skull Island, the island could possibly become the new base of the monsters. A kind of Jurassic Park - only with huge Kaijus instead of dinosaurs.

But that would require Godzilla to win the battle against King Kong and claim the island for himself and his monsters.

So much to the speculative future movies of the MonsterVerse, produced by Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures. But there are also bad news making the rounds. Godzilla 2 is said to have just recovered its production costs and the next movie Godzilla vs. King Kong is supposed to be postponed by a few months, most likely the filmed movie won't be released until summer. The rumour is that the future of the franchise depends on this film, which will be released in summer (?) 2020.

Let's hope, that the franchise will go on and that we will see more Kaijus!
