PG back in the day was different though. This was before PG-13 was around and the realized they needed to make another category that stuff like this could fit into. I think part of the reason this movie was so successful was just because Hanks is such a great actor. If you look at the plot and the general premise of it, it kind of seems ridiculous. It ended up being fantastic though and I think a lot of that has to do with him.
