V for Vendetta - "Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask is an idea"
One of the greatest masterpieces of modern cinema. V for Vendetta is not only a great thriller but also a film with an important message that never grows old, people should never surrender to totalitarian governments and much less accept the destruction of freedom.
The story is based on a near dystopian future where the United Kingdom is ruled by a totalitarian party. People aren't free, they cannot criticize the government, everyone is used to hearing journalists and politicians lying when something bad happens and in short words, the country is a major mess.
Soon enough, we will see this masked subject known as V making his spectacular first appearance in the film. This character represents the resistance against this putrid government and the hope for a positive change. The yearning for recovering the freedom this society once enjoyed.
This is the film that made the Guy Fawkes mask a popular cultural symbol and as many of you will know, this mask was adopted by groups such as Anonymous. By now it is fair to consider this mask not only an anarchist symbol but also a figure against any sort of abuse committed by governments.
V is an extremely intelligent, talented, and skillful person, he is impossible to beat in fights and has perfect handling of his knives. He wants to take down this government through a series of attacks that only he is planning, like a sort of one-man army.
Natalie Portman's character is also important in the story but anything I could say about her might be considered a spoiler. The best moments in the movie are always with her and V though.
Throughout the movie, we will discover why V is like this, as well as important information about past crimes that conditioned the nature of the current government.
V for Vendetta is, in my opinion, a must-watch film. An excellent thriller with a plot complex enough to keep itself interesting for the great majority of the viewers.

- Tremendous film, iconic and unforgettable.
- Intriguing plot with intense, epic, dark and sad moments.
The worst
- People who don't enjoy movies with a political message and a very annoying totalitarian politician yelling, might get bored.

This is one of the few films that I can return to re watch many times over and still find it entertaining.
Same for me, when it was first released back in 2005-2006 I was too young to really appreciate it. With time, it has become one of my favorite all-time films.
