Poetic Film Review: In China They Eat Dogs (In Kina spiser de hunde, 1999)
In Denmark's streets where darkness looms,
A tale of brothers, heists, and dooms.
Arvid, the bank teller, mild and meek,
His life turns upside down in just one week.
With a squash racquet, he takes down a thief,
But loses love, causing him much grief.
A plan is hatched, a heist to correct,
But chaos ensues, with no respect.
Brothers in crime, on a violent spree,
A spiral of bloodshed, for all to see.
Critics may scoff at the Tarantino style,
But Olsen's film brings action worthwhile.
Kim Bodnia shines as the psychopath,
Dejan Čukić, the gentle aftermath.
Dark comedy at its twisted best,
In China They Eat Dogs passes the test.
Despite the violence and dark humor's flow,
Entertaining and funny, it steals the show.
A Hollywood remake, rumors say,
But the original holds its own, today.
So grab some popcorn, settle in tight,
For a wild ride through the Copenhagen night.
In China They Eat Dogs, a film to adore,
With a rating of 7/10 and so much more.
