Poetic Film Review: The Mummy (1932)

In ancient Egypt's mystic land,
Where curses and mummies make their stand,
A tale of love and resurrection told,
In Hollywood's era of black and gold.

"The Mummy" in nineteen thirty-two,
With Karl Freund's direction, a story anew,
Boris Karloff as Imhotep, the mummy's guise,
Bringing terror and mystery to viewers' eyes.

Zita Johann as Helen, a beauty in chains,
Caught in the web of Ardeth Bey's sinister gains,
Edward Van Sloan as the voice of reason,
In a film that's more melodrama than frightful season.

Though not as terrifying as today's horror trend,
"The Mummy" still captivates from beginning to end,
A classic of Universal's horror lore,
Leaving audiences wanting more.

So let us remember this film of old,
Where love and curses unfold,
A piece of cinema history,
That still holds its mystery.
