Poetic Film Review: X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)
In Hollywood's halls of fame,
A film stands tall, yet flawed in its frame,
X-Men: The Last Stand, a tale of strife,
Where budget high, yet memory low, in life.
The third installment, a comic book's dream,
Mutants clash, in future's gleaming scheme,
X-Men and Brotherhood, a battle fierce,
Peace or war, their goal, the cure, their search.
Jean Grey returns, Phoenix's might,
A showdown brewing, in the final fight,
Yet fans lament, the missed opportunity,
Characters underused, like a faded memory.
Director Ratner, a specialist in action's art,
Focused on the spectacle, rather than the heart,
A shorter film, more economic in its design,
Yet some iconic heroes, met their tragic end in time.
On-set antics, cast a dark shadow's pall,
Homophobic slurs, harassment, a bitter gall,
A stain on the film, that many try to ignore,
X-Men fans distancing, as the franchise roars.
The Last Stand, meant to be the final bow,
Instead, a trilogy, morphed into something new,
Spin-offs and prequels, a confusing tale,
Plot holes and continuity, a franchise's fail.
A troubled production, a flawed gem in the crown,
X-Men: The Last Stand, a story still unbound,
A glimpse of what could have been, a missed chance,
A film remembered, though critics' scornance.
