George A. Romero has died.

The famous filmmaker passed away at age 77 after a brief battle with lung cancer. Romero, who has been hailed as the Godfather of the Dead, was most known for pioneering the modern zombie genre and creating the classic horror films Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead.
