John Travolta: The Biography

John Travolta a living legend! His biography, his life and his work. He is a dancer, actor, singer, writer and producer. His versatility has brought him some success.

His life

On 18.02.1954 John Travolta was born in Englewood (New Jersey). He is the youngest of six siblings. His father gave him the Italian blood and his mother the Irish versatility. His mother Helen Cecilia-Burke gave him acting lessons because she was an actress. At the age of 16 he dropped out of school and moved to New York to try his hand at the stages. He learned tap dancing with Gene Kelly's brother, which was to be useful to him later on. In New York he was active for the musical "Grease" among other things. The well-known "Travolta Fever" started already on tour with the musical. 1977/1978 Travolta Fever expanded further when he climbed the summit of Disco Welle with Saturday Night Fever and Grease. After that, things got a little calmer around him. It was not until 1989 that he achieved a new success with "Kuck mal mal wer da spricht" as author he published the story of little Jeff's (night flight to L. A.).

His roles

Travolta's filmography includes a number of well-known films, but also some unknown roles are hidden in it. However, the highlights should still be mentioned. The film Staying Alive, released in 1983, was one of the less successful films, although Travolta played his role convincingly.
With Kuck' mal wer der spricht, however, he managed to convince in all three parts and to celebrate successes with the comedy.
It's all about Mafia boss "Momo" and his demise in the movie Schnappt Shorty, with which John Travlota appeared in his former glory.
With the films Operation Broken Arrow and Password Swordfish, Travolta proved that he can always reinvent himself.
In 2007 you could see Travolta dancing again in the music film Hairspray. One can be curious what kind of movies will follow.

His Honors

Besides some nominations Travolta won relatively few prizes. In 1996, John Travolta won the Golden Globe as best leading actor in the Comedy/Musica category for the film Schnappt Shorty.
In 2000 he got the Golden Raspberry. Category: Actors for the roles in Battlefied Earth and Lucky Numbers. In 2011 he was awarded with the Golden Camera as Best Actor International.
