There are quite a few people considerably younger than me in my course that genuinely expect horror films to be riddled with jump scares, and find ones without them utterly boring.
They even consider films from the 80s/90s to be very old, too.
I guess times have changed. Although I can't help but thinking, that somebody who studies film and finds 80s / 90s movies 'very old' misses out on a lot. You never know, unless you actually see it though.
