Melania (film): Boring, with a few "ahhh" moments
When I saw this film getting torn to pieces by professional reviewers and also by the audience score I just figured it had a lot to do with this insane hatred for Trump that exists in the media and how the people that really dislike him wouldn't hesitate to go nuts on a fake review crusade about anything that he had something to do with. I don't think he had very much to do with this film, he isn't in very much of it but this film is just simply lacking in any sort of excitement and is extremely boring.
You don't need to know my politics and it is nuts that we live in a world where people think that is something that we should talk about. My opinion about the Trumps has nothing to do with that I am talking about: This film is objectively bad.

I was kind of hopeful that this documentary was going to focus on her past, how she came to be in the United States, how she met Donald Trump, maybe show us a bit of a human side that is struggling to make it in the modeling world or struggling to make her rent, or struggling with the language. Something along those lines. That would have been a lot more interesting to me (and I think everyone else). When I did find out (because she tells us in a narration sense) that this is just going to be a week or so in the life of her, that it was a bit of a letdown, but I still continued watching.

Unfortunately, she was being honest when she said this is what they were going to do. The cameras follow her around for days or weeks or however long it was and we get to see what goes into her day. I guess you could say I enjoyed seeing exactly how much security is involved for her to go and do literally anything but this only stays interesting for the first 2 or 3 times that you see it. I am wowed by opulence as much as the next guy and some of this was quite neat.
I was also kind of shocked to see that often, despite being the First Lady, that she frequently has to ride in service elevators (as does her husband) because they are the only ones that are secure or can get an override to not stop at any other floors. She doesn't state this, but a lot of the elevators that she gets into seem kind a grimy. The sort that you are I would end up in.

She seems like a nice lady but I suppose we'll just have speculate if this was for the sake of the cameras or not. She does say some funny things in this but for the most part every situation we find ourselves in is rather boring and I keep waiting for something interesting to happen but it just never does. We go to dress fittings several times, we go see her oversee the decorations of the White House and some gala events and doors are held open for her and loads of streets are marked off by police and tons of cars are involved in taking her to all manner of places and we just see this happen over and over.
I was a bit disappointed that this was a wonderful opportunity for us to confirm the rumor that she speaks 5 languages fluently but the one time that someone speaks French to her she nods her head in agreement and then responds to the woman in English. This is like Jared Leto being in a Japanese movie and the only thing he ever does is totally understand what is being said to him and then respond with "hai".
I'm not convinced.
Anyway, I can go ahead and tell you that while I do think the 1.5/10 is DEFINITELY politically motivated on the review sites that this film is extremely boring with a few good moments that give us a behind the scenes look to see what it is like to be one of the most protected people in the world. I started fast-forwarding after about and hour and at that point my phone was occupying more of my time than the film was.
There is no good reason to watch this but here is the trailer anyway.
Should I watch it?
I just said no. lol
I don't really know how they could have made this better. To me this is something that really didn't need to be done and I don't understand why it was done. No offence to the woman herself, she does seem like a genuinely kind person and perhaps that was the objective behind making it, who knows? All I know is that I expect a certain level of entertainment in anything that I watch and this simply didn't have much of that.

This can only be legally streamed on Amazon Prime at the moment and that is likely where it is going to stay
