Sam Mendes , the film maker of the last two James Bond films has found a project that is ready to be his latest work. As reported by Collider , Mendes will direct a 1917 film which is rumored to be set in World War I. The film also marks Mendes's debut as a script writer, and later will collaborate with writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns , known through the Penny Dreadful series.

FYI, in fact 1917 is also a Mendes reunion project with Steven Spielberg , considering the film is produced Ambini Partners- Spielberg. Mendes himself first worked with Spielberg through his inaugural film, American Beauty , which is under the banner of Spielberg studio, DreamWorks Pictures . Despite a bit of controversy due to the sensational theme of the story, this 1999 drama release film eventually won four Oscars including Best Picture , Best Director , Best Original Screenplay and Best Actor .

With the details of the unknown story, Spielberg described 1917 as a very risky and ambitious film. If it refers to historical facts, 1917 was recorded as a very important year in the era of World War I. Because at that time the United States declared war on Germany in April, then two months later London was rocked by the first massive bomb attack by Germany.

Mendes himself last time working on two James Bond films, namely Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015). Later, he was hired by Disney to master Pinocchio's live-action film, before he finally retreated in November 2017. Mendes now ready to focus on developing 1917 , as the Universal- driven film will begin shooting April 2019, and is planned to air in December of the same year.
