Thor: Ragnarok(2017)
"I've got more muscle, so technically more brains!" - Thor
Thor: Ragnarok is probably the best movie that can be made from Thor and his Norse legend. This movie is a strange Thor movie. Okay, all of Thor's movies are weird, but this one's weird. He plays more like a Trippy Guardians of the Galaxy . The film features a more fantastic environment and more exotic aliens. This movie is also the most fun Thor movie.
The lightning god of Marvel's Norse mythology is basically a slightly ridiculous character. Despite having a perfect super ability and played by Chris Hemsworth who also has a perfect physical appearance, but he is a bland superhero with great responsibilities . Hearing him talk is like looking at the prize people who are present again because they feel more special than the commoners. No one takes seriously what they say / do, except themselves. It is also a slightly complicated character to handle. As a god, Thor is so strong that it is impossible to be cited in the face of a threat at the intergalactic level.
New Zealand director Taika Waititi, who once worked on the eccentric comedy What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople , is aware of this and gladly presents it to us, making the nonsense of the gods as an absurd joke in which the typical action generic blockbuster . The movie is playing with superhero cliches (there's one more good joke about superhero's landing ). Thor's personality becomes a joke in his own movie. And Hemsworth could again unleash his talents.
Thor could chant in front of great danger, and this is natural because, hey, he's a god. So even though he had to fight a giant fire demon called Surfur who predicted fishing "ragnarok", we knew this would be an easy mission. When returning home to Asgard, Thor saw his father, Odin ( Anthony Hopkins ) again sitting around looking pretty opera loose. Wow, it seems Thor: The Dark World not only damages the health of our souls, but Odin too. Well , it was not. It turns out that Loki ( Tom Hiddleston ) is posing as Odin.
His first fight with Hela resulted in Thor being thrown to a far-away planet called Sakaar. The planet is controlled by Jeff Goldblum who pretends to be an alien named "Grandmaster", as we would believe. Thor was taken captive then forced into a gladiator. In this arena, he meets the green giant Hulk ( Mark Ruffalo ), his fellow Avengers called Thor as a "friend at work", but clearly Hulk does not feel that way.
Thor: Ragnarok works most successfully in buddy comedy between Thor and the people around him. Thor and Hulk are not so compact that they mock and tease each other. Hulk, a green giant who is not too bright but quite sensitive, gets a much larger portion than his performance from the two films The Avengers . Finally, the two most dull characters in the Marvel universe were also given a kind of personality.
So also with the dynamics of Thor and Loki who since childhood has become a brother-but-enemy-nebulous. In fact, Thor is surrounded by very interesting characters. Tessa Thompson plays as Valkyrie, legendary Asgard fighter who becomes a slave hobbyist who is hooked on drunkenness in Sakaar. Waititi himself gets a tasteful role through motion-capture technology as Korg, a rock monster who is also an arena gladiator. With a shrill voice and a plain personality, he has a funny dialogue. Almost all the characters in this movie joke, even in the most serious situations.
I found that the tendency of the film to connect with the cinematic universe this time was pretty distracting. Many fanservices , such as trivia, cameo, and callbacks to previous Marvel movies, which will make dedicated audiences to the Marvel universe grinning happily while other audiences will be astonished. I love to see the response of my friends watching when hearing the terms halu that seemed to say "WTF was that". However, this is the purpose of the movie, is not it?

The movie was fun to watch, plain and simple, finally a Thor movie that doesn't take itself too seriously.
And Korg and Miek were hilarious :-)
