1939 Chevrolet Dwarf

This is a functioning miniature version of a 1939 Chevrolet. This is the only car that Ernie has both an original as well as a custom built miniature. These cars are hand built with raw material. For instance the grill is hand made replica of the original. The hood doors, trunks, windows open and close just like the original car and were hand made. The small lights like the turn signals are often made from glass that have similar shapes like some portion of a bottle. For instance one of the cars uses the side of a tobasco bottle for the glass lens. It happened to be just the right size and shape. The inside of the glass was sandblasted to get the frosted look while the outside remained smooth. All the cars in the museum are kept in running condition. The engines are 4 cylinder Toyota where the exhaust pipes are combined in a way to make the car sound like a V8. It is unimaginable the amount of hours that went into these hand crafted cars.
