Blur The Best Of - Blur // Rock, Music, Pop, Pop/Rock, Britpop
When talking about the album The Best, it must contain the best songs from several albums. And of course those songs must be familiar to the ears of music lovers and usually those songs must be liked. Likewise with the album The Best of Blur. The Best of this album contains 19 best songs of Blur from their albums plus 10 songs recorded live at Wembley Arena on 11 December 1999. Both the recording version and the live version are just as good. Damon Albarn's voice didn't even change. It's nice to listen to both versions, especially when played together. Yes, there are several songs that are the same but in recording and live versions such as She's So High, Girls & Boys, To The End, End of a Century, Charmless Man, Beetlebum, No Distance Left to Run, and Tenders.
For fans of the Britpop band, the songs on The Best album are of course like an oasis in the desert because the songs are delicious, familiar in the ears and of course the best of Blur blends in one album. Even those who are not fans of Blur themselves will surely be entertained with a collection of songs on this album. Think of this album as the beginning of an introduction to find out more about this one band. To be honest, I myself am not a Blur fan and only know a few songs from this band. However, once I listened to the collection of songs on The Best album, I immediately declared myself to be a new fan of Blur. Late? Yes indeed! And I regret it a little.
Opened with the Beetlebum track, this album indirectly introduces this type of music that is carried by Blur. The nuance of the 90's poppop feels really thick in the song. Listening to this song will feel cool if you listen to it via earphones while sitting back and relax in the afternoon while looking at the grass. As for the live version, it makes us feel like they are seeing their concert directly while singing along.
Continue with the next track, Song 2, which is one of the famous Blur songs. Especially with the typical woo hoo. This song was also what initially made me know this band, even though I didn't know the title and the singer at all. Understandably, just listen to it via radio in the past.
Switch to the fifth track, Coffee & TV which really made me know Blur. How not, the video clips always adorn the MTV glass screen at the time. I didn't like the song myself at the time, but because the video was quite interesting and unique, I indirectly got to know the band. However, now that it's heard again, it turns out this song is quite good. Plus the lyrics that turn out to mean deep.
So give me Coffee and TV
History
I've seen so much
I'm goin' blind
And I'm brain-dead virtually
Sociability
It's hard enough for me
Take me away from this big bad world
And agree to marry me
So we can start over again
Coffee and TV is like a lazy song. I mean, when we listen to this song, we feel like lazy, just enjoying the music. Especially if you listen to it through the earphones while lying or sitting on the couch in the afternoon while sipping warm coffee.
Turning to the Tender song track is quite phenomenal too. Children hanging out in the 90s must have at least heard the rhythm of this song even though they may not know who the singer and the title of the song is.
Listen to the parts of the reff.
Come on, Come on, Come on
Get through it
Come on, Come on, Come on
Love is the greatest thing
........
Oh my baby
Oh my baby
Oh why
Oh my
Turning to the next track, Girls and Boys are really good music. Disco style. I feel like just jogging when I hear this song.
Continue to the song She's So High which can be said to be a hopeless song. How not, just listen to the lyrics that are truly hopeless to get someone's love that is so 'high'.
I see her face
Everyday
I see her face
It doesn't help me
She's so high
I want to crawl all over her
And the lyrics are really honest and deep. Every person who has experienced the same thing, surely knows how it feels to like someone like the picture in the lyrics of this song. Who listens to this song and experiences the same fate as the lyrics of this song, it is feared that it will be increasingly down and may cry 'blood'.
Well, To The End is a favorite track on this album. This song made me addicted to listening to other Blur songs. I like the song's intro and once I enter the reff, I like it more. Pull Damon's voice in the lyrics and it looks like we might have made it, really cool. However, somehow listening to this song made me sad. Especially if you listen to it in the room alone in a dimly lit room using earphones.
This Is A Low entered my second favorite track on this album. The rhythm of the music is very thick with britpop which is a characteristic of Blur. Songs that also make me sad because of the deep lyrics.
This is a low
But it won't hurt you
When you are alone
It will be there with you
Finding ways to stay solo
And finally, I am the only music lover, recommending The Best of Blur album for all of you, especially Britpop music lovers or those who miss quality music in the 90s era. This album can be a 'thirst release' from the type of music that is now monotonous and less creative (no offense!). And hopefully after you listen to this album, those of you who didn't know Blur or even know little about this band, can become new fans of Blur like me.
Keep doing your loving work ,it will stay you healthy rather then other forced work.
