Al Jarreau feat. Ed Privat (Live Medley)
10 years ago, I was a part of a show, and we had the chance to perform with amazing singers.
I was at the time , and still today am the biggest fan of Al Jarreau
This is my performance with him ! Not my best performance but oh well what I will remember is the memory around the event itself!
I remember learning his scat solo by heart in music school as a tennager, using software to slow down the music and dissect what made him so special.I remember the countless hours, trying to figure out how he changed the shape of his mouth, to modify the sound.Everything was sound to Al Jarreau's ears...
In 2008, I participated to this singing competition on TF1 , and sung with my idol.Al Jarreau..
Up that day, it was one of my most cherished moment of existence, I spent few days with him before the show, we chatted about everything and nothing, France, jazz, his favorite drink( Milk and Chocolate). , I sung to him his solo on "Agua de Beber" that I still knew by heart, and most importantly I told that old man that I loved him
He showed me his best warm up exercises, and gave me advice that I still remember to that day
AL has passed away few years back, we were still in correspondence through his manager, that was reading him news about me, and printing photos of my children that I sent him.
I haven't shared this footage with many people, I think you can find it on other platforms too.
What's important is to remember how amazing Al Jarreau was, he changed my life and shaped my destiny , I wouldn't the person that I am today without him.

10 years is way too long to wait to share this one. The build up you told us, the vibe, the history.. They couldn’t stay in their chairs on that show, Ed! I think this is my new favorite.
