Synesthesia Review: Kanye West - ye
There might be something to this 7 track, -25 minutes of runtime albums. This exceptional release is proof.
MAGA and "slavery was a choice" debates aside, this is Ye at he's absolute best. He's a genius, without equal. The short track list and runtime means there's little to no room for mistakes or filler, much like DAYTONA. Kanye proves that he hasn't lost he's touch in the field of sampling and production.
He shows that he's still the same rapper with the bravado and braggadocio to take on any subject. The album feels like it was recorded just a day before its release. Yikes comes as arguably the best song off the album, in commercial terms. References are made to plethora of drugs, including he's breakdown episode in late 2017. Just a few weeks ago he's outburst on TMZ made headlines and it's addressed on Wouldn't Leave, including the aftermath of he's decision.
There's also some fatherly instincts shown on album closer, Violent Crimes coupled with a voice recording from Nicki Minaj who was referenced in the song. Ye also makes time to show he's still arrogant and obnoxious throughout the album with lines about basic girls and not taking advice from those less successful than him.
This is a major upgrade and feels more complete than Life of Pablo in half the time and portrays Ye at he's best.
