Grand Commander - Pilot Light (music review)
Grand Commander is a solo artist out of my neck of the woods, Dallas, Tx whose art is a mixture of conceptual art rock, folk, and heavy. His style of music is a blend of surrealism, expression, and storytelling. Sam Damask, the creator of Grand Commander, utilizes a double neck bass guitar to compose all of his music.
His latest EP released on 9/10/2018 named, Now You Face...Grand Commander. He is not a ghost to the Dallas underground with the release of "The Witching Hour", released in Feb of 2018 followed by the "Bad Bad Rabbit" released in June and a recent single "Pilot Light".
I particularly liked the meaning of the song"Pilot Light". He wrote the song during a tough time of his life. A close friend of his passed away and he re-wrote the lyrics to reflect his friends' good life. The single is funky with a little hip vibe to it. It's definitely a hit.
This is unquestionably not the end for Grand Commander. I love seeing my Texas natives being put on the map and doing grand things. Texas is Definity beginning to be on the map for some of the most talented individuals across the USA. We are in the running for Los Angeles and Atlanta.
I say keep the momentum and keep Dallas in the Now!
Here is his latest single 'Pilot Light'. Enjoy!
