Grapthar's Song of the Day: Girls At Our Best! - 'Heaven'

Girls At Our Best! - Heaven
I first heard this band on a Welcome Skateboards

video (specifically this song) and had to find out who there. Once I discovered they were on Spotify, I immediately binged their (only) full length album, and have been a fan ever since. The group has, unfortunately, not really received much attention, and aren't usually mentioned when people discuss post-punk, but they are definitely worthy of a place in that history. They were first formed in 1979 in Leeds, England, and were origianlly called The Butterflies (fortunately this was changed, lol). The original line-up of the group consisted of singer Judy "Jo" Evans, guitarist James "Jez" Alan, bassist Gerard "Terry" Swift and drummer Chris Oldroyd (Source - Wikipedia: Girls At Our Best!). The band released a couple of singles in 1980 and '81, and eventually released their only full length album, Pleasure, which is where this song comes from. I LOVE Evan's vocals, and the timbre of guitars and synth parts is really cool, and very different from the synthpop of the same decade. It definitely feels post-punky, but also catchy and danceable.
