Fever Ray - Wanna Sip

Fever Ray is the stage moniker of

electronic musician Karin Elisabeth Dreijer, formerly of the group The Knife, with her brother Olaf. Dreijer is known for incorporating really strange, experimental and avant-garde elements into electronic music, and for her incredibly wide array of vocal timbres, ranging shrill and squeeky to deep and bassy. She is from Sweden, and began in the music world playing guitar in the band Honey is Cool. I highly reccomend checking out Ray's live sets (on Youtube), and music videos, as the imagery and general aesthetic used is so strange and awesome.

Listen to Wanna Sip by Fever Ray here.

This is the opening track to Ray's

2017 album Plunge, the second full length under the alias Fever Ray. When I discovered this album, I was absolutely blown away. There are some familiar elements from the world of synthpop, and hiphop, but every track has something unique and weird going on. There are some really dissonant, chaotic parts, and some that are surprisingly beautiful and melodic. There are a lot of '80s sort of retro elements within this song, but nothing about it feels like a throwback; Ray manages to make everything sound really modern and original. The version I've embedded below includes the music video, which is SO strange, and incredible, all at once.

Enjoy today's song! Thanks for checking out my blog, and Steem On!
