Grapthar's Song of the Day: The Art of Noise - 'Moments in Love'

The Art of Noise - Moments in Love
The Art of Noise were one of those

groups I discovered on Spotify through related artists, just going down a music rabbit hole one day while driving around. The group was first formed in 1983 in London, England by engineer/producer Gary Langan and programmer J. J. Jeczalik, along with keyboardist/arranger Anne Dudley, producer Trevor Horn (from The Buggles, and Yes), and music journalist Paul Morley (Source: Wikipedia - Art of Noise). The group were a synthpop band, but are often listed as 'avant garde synthpop', as they were really interested in pushing the boundaries of electronic music, and discovering new ways to utilize (what was at the time) brand new electronic music equipment/instruments. Most of their music is instrumental, often utilizing samplers to achieve really unique sounds. This song is from the band's debut album, Who's Afraid of the Art of Noise?, released in 1984, and is definitely the band's most well known track. It has been sampled by a number of electronic and hip hop producers over the years, and, even though it was recorded in 1983, honestly sounds like it could easily be a modern rap beat, if it was beefed a bit with modern production. This is one of my favorite 'cruising' tunes, that I can just put on while I drive around aimlessly.
