Eric Clapton - Layla

in #music9 months ago

"Leyla" is a song originally released by Derek and the Dominos in 1970, with Eric Clapton as lead guitarist and vocalist. The song was inspired by Clapton's unrequited love for Pattie Boyd, the wife of his best friend, George Harrison (guitarist of The Beatles).

The song has two main parts:

  1. First part – Energetic and passionate, with a signature guitar riff played by Clapton and Duane Allman.

  2. Second part – Beautiful and melancholic piano melody, added by drummer Jim Gordon, which gives a deep emotional touch.

The unplugged version (1992) of "Layla" played in acoustic style became very popular and won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song.
