Trying to be cool?
musings on a clip from the film "Almost Famous" with lester bangs played by philip seymour hoffman
trying to be cool?
this clip is about the dichotomy between being received well (cool) and making a truly meaningful impact (art). What happens when friendship gets involved? Other archetypes this brings to mind are the relationship between the king and the advisor or priest. There is trust and there is often deception and there are always risks taken. One of us could be hurt, and the other could risk falling out of favor with the "cool" folks.
Brings to mind the current astrological dynamic going on between Saturn and Neptune, Saturn being the enforcer of limits and rules (i.e. whats maintained as acceptable and status quo), and Neptune the mystic and the dreamer. As time goes by, these characters learn to work together better and better, as more and more complex obstacles become surmountable.
As Saturn and Neptune have been in a stressed (squaring) relationship for a year and will continue to for another year, how do we see these changes coming about in our lives nowadays? As Saturn is the slower moving planet, it in someways must yield to the Neptunian impulse a bit more... Are we in the Steem community our own cool clique, or are we trying to win the acceptance of others? Probably both, right? We're knocking on the door of the status quo, by trying to gain notoriety in the world and by working in the very popular social network model, but we're also dissolving many of the previous value systems that go along with them. Let me know what ya'll think. First time poster! Thanks for reading. I hope to post more on astrology and music in the future.
