Jim Morrison was an American singer-songwriter known worldwide for being the lead singer of influential rock band The Doors. He died on July 3, 1971, when he was only 27 years old, due to a heart attack. So, to remember his figure, we have five curiosities that marked his life. 

He spent his childhood in several military bases. James Douglas Morrison, better known as Jim Morrison, was born on December 8, 1943 in Melbourne, Florida. His father, George Morrison, was an admiral of the US Navy, the reason why he spent his childhood in several military bases of the United States.

He preferred to buy books rather than clothes. While studying high school he developed a great passion for reading. Among his favorite writers were Kerouac, Nietzsche, Rimbaud, Baudelaire and Ginsberg.

He could wear the same T-shirt day after day, preferring to spend money on buying books. He moved to Los Angeles and began film studies there, at the same time he also began to write poetry.

The 60's were a bad time. Once he achieved fame. Jim Morrison had several problems with the authorities. More than once he appeared under the effects of alcohol and drugs at his concerts. His image was associated with rebellion. At one point he was accused of showing his genitals to the public.

He left the music at its hype. In 1971, facing the risk of being sentenced to prison, he decided to abandon music and take refuge in Paris, where he would devote himself entirely to his greatest inclination: poetry. He has three books of poems: The lords, The new creatures and An american prayer.

There are several doubts about his death. His body was found in the bathtub of his flat in Paris, where he lived with his partner, Pamela Courson. It was stated that he died of a heart attack according to his death certificate, but there are many other versions like suicide or murder.

Others claim that he suffered an overdose of heroin (which he was not fond of because he had panic to the needles) in the toilets of the Parisian nightclub Rock 'n' Roll Circus and was later transferred to his house.
