RE: Metal Weekend: Let there be rock
I didn't realise this Metal Weekend was a tag thing! Ill do one myself before the weekend is over but let me comment on your choices.
I have heard of Diamond Head but never actively sought out their music. He does sound a little like Freddie but the song was more on the progressive side than Queen, good choice. It also ends in five minutes but the clip is more than 7.5 minutes! Editing error I think.
Queen: I am not a huge fan, but I do remember Seven Seas of Rhye entering the charts in 1974.. damn I'm old.. and I do like some of their singles, I don't know this particular song though. Agree Freddie's voice is very distinctive and unique.
Led Zep - now here's a band I have tried to get on with in the past but again nothing gripped me except Stairway and Kashmir. They have such a huge following so why cant I hear it... I don't know..
It would be boring if we all liked the same things. If I don't like any music I don't have to listen to it
The Metal Weekend is great idea though. If you pick up on just one song you may discover a new band or artist you have never heard of before. I could really use a new one to jump on, it's not happened to me recently.
You can go down a rabbit hole with Youtube. One song leads to many more. It's the main way I listen to new stuff these days.
Trust me I have tried. I seem to be wired up differently from most people. I intend to do an article on this topic. Keep watching!
