Greatest Debut Albums - A Music Post

To all the music lovers out there ... give it some thought .... which albums. or bands. do feel had THE best debut album EVER? Now this is a difficult question as I know it is subjective... but the charts also do not lie.

So this post is about my personal choices .... inspired by a CD slapped into the player earlier today... an album I had not listened to for at least a decade

But it was still so relevant and still so classy that it got me thinking.."Surely this must be the best debut album ever?"

The album in question ...............

Yup, Alanis Morrisette !! Can any one listening to this and who knows the album believe there is a below par track..... a 'filler' as we used to call them?

This is going to be quite a long post with a lot of music. Get yourself a drink... and settle down to some great music while you contemplate what you believe were , for you, GREAT debut albums

On the CD "Jagged Little Pill" there was a'hidden track' .... so I am including that ..but ANY of the tracks are well worth including..stunning debut album.

Moving on, another brilliant debut album ..in my not so humble opinion ... from that excellent (please support them) Wikipedia publication..

During this time her family produced a demo tape with over 50 of her compositions, which was turned down by record labels. Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour received the demo from Ricky Hopper, a mutual friend of Gilmour and the Bush family. Impressed, Gilmour helped the sixteen-year-old Bush record a more professional demo tape.[27] Three tracks in total were recorded and paid for by Gilmour.[28] The tape was produced by Gilmour's friend Andrew Powell, who went on to produce Bush's first two albums,[25] and sound engineer Geoff Emerick, who had worked with the Beatles.[29] The tape was sent to EMI executive Terry Slater,[30] who signed her.[31]

I once again challenge anyone to find a 'filler' track on this album. I believe this album showed Kate's versatility.. each track demonstrating her ability to add nuance to her vocal chords {shew...thinks} 'what was in that beetroot juice has me writing these abstract thoughts?'} ..but really..brilliant.

Her smash hit from the album a track called 'Wuthering Heights'. The album sold over a million copies..and bear in mind this was in the 1970's...

Next up ... an inauspicious start by a band that was going to go onto 'almost greatness' ...

I first heard this band on a commercial radio channel... LM Radio while on the way to Mozambique .... I was a scrawny 13 year old and it sure made me sit up and take notice. Who can ever forget the Queen debut album simply titled Queen?

Once again from that excellent publication .. Wikipedia ...(again, please support them) ...

Rolling Stone Magazine wrote, "There's no doubt that this funky, energetic English quartet has all the tools they'll need to lay claim to the Zep's abdicated heavy-metal throne, and beyond that to become a truly influential force in the rock world. Their debut album is superb."

I had a few more in mind ... but on researching them I found they were not truly 'debut' albums. For instance I thought Fleetwood Mac's Rumours album was a debut album... but it was only for the revised band membership...Fleetwood having been around for eight years already by then. Nonetheless, a brilliant album
