    According to a post put out by elear, a founder and one of the main people still behind utopian-io, the witness server was suspended because the main server started to have issues and couldn't keep up with block verification. In the meantime, they switched to a backup, but it too started having issues and more blocks were missed.

    Rather than continuing to miss blocks, they decided to suspend the witness all together.

    Whether or not the utopian-io witness comes back will depend on a number of things, financial being one of them. At present, the general feeling is that the cost of the server was not something they could afford to try to fix or support, even though they were higher up in the witness rankings.

    Utopian-io has been experiencing other financial issues, which has led to a restructuring and a renewed dedication to utopian's over all mission.
