Introduce your community, name, and location
My community is the Ola community in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. This is the community that I am currently in at the moment. The specific place that I am staying in the Ola area is called Ahawyi community. People call it the place behind Ola Hospital, and it is the easiest way to know the community; in this community, we're facing a water challenge in the community.
To access this community, you can walk to my community if your place is around or close to the Ola area, but if you are in Akwanga or closer to Akwanga then you can enter by motorcycle or vehicle.
What is the major challenge affecting your community, and how does the problem affect the people in your community?

The major challenge that is affecting my community is the lack of clean water. In my community, we rely more on waterboard water, but for the past week, the waterboard hasn't supplied water to my community.
Even the water reserve that is in the compound where I am staying has run out, which has resulted to me going to the bush to fetch water from a small stream. Water is a very big problem in my community because people have tried digging wells and getting tap water, butheyll there coudiscover water in the ground.

If the water board doesn't bring water, the people in my community, including myself, have to go to the nearby community to fetch water which is tap water. As of today, when I want to wash my clothes, I go to the stream, which is not even clean, to fetch water simply because the water in my compound has stopped running.
Tell us what you think is the cause of the problem that is affecting your community
The major cause of this problem is nature, because naturally in my community, especially the area I am staying in, there is no water on the ground.
A lot of people have tried digging wells and even tap water by bringing people to do it, but at the end of the day, there is no water on the ground. Finding water on the ground is hard, and for those who have a well, they don't have the finances to convert it to tap water and the money to pump water often.
Tell us the efforts that have been made to address it, and tell us your solution to the problem.
A lot of efforts have been made to address the issue of water in my community. People have come together, raised money, and tried to get tap water, which didn't work out.
Also, people have come together and tried to expand this small stream, which still didn't work out as planned. My solution is simple, but it would cost a lot of money: for people in my community to drill a borehole or tap water in this place that has water and channel it to every household in my community, rather than relying on waterboard water.

Government can help by creating a water dam in my community and instructing the management of the water board corporation to supply water to my community more often. Also, the government has the finances and resources to provide water in my community, and they can assist my community in that aspect.

The challenge of water can become so frustrating, especially if one has to go far to get water. Water is so important for everyone, as we use it for almost everything we do. I believe there will come a day when the challenge of having access to quality water in your community will be a thing of the past.
