Today was full of engagements and fun. The funniest of it all is the inconclusive football match on the opening day between the Salvation Army Church and The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, both in Akwa Ibom State under the YOWICCN. Let's scroll down the report, as I call on @mayjay, @etette, @joybee01, and @annydee01 to share in the conversation.

MORNING

Today was scheduled for the management committee meeting in the church at exactly 6am. The early morning timing was a leadership consideration. Where we are, most of them are students, and others are either working for someone or running their business. Saturday is the best time to have a meeting that will last for hours. We carefully considered other weekend events and decided to do it early and close for other personal engagements. As a leader, you must listen to the complaints of your followers.

I was the first person in church at 6:12am; not too long after, others joined. But the meeting was delayed until 7am as we were waiting to form a quorum. When this was formed, the chairman was yet to arrive due to unforeseen eventualities, and immediately after he arrived at 7:22am, the meeting was constituted with the agenda ratified and used as a working document in today's meeting. With motion moved and seconded.
The items in the agenda were discussed and decisions taken for the good of the church and meeting ended at 9:21am.

Returning home we bought akara (bean cake on the way to have breakfast. While I was waiting for my wife to buy, I saw a woman who was still sweeping the road. Yeah, Uyo is swept everyday. I was so pleased, I asked the akara seller to give her some to regain strength. We used the akara with cassava flakes while waiting for whatever would come from the kitchen to the table.

I listened to 10am news on Arise where they had a conversation on the Wike and Yerima altercation days ago. There are different views; while one maintained that the FCT Minister was wrong to confront the military personnel in uniform in an abusive manner, the other blamed the naval officer for having no respect for the minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. As for me, this conversation is not the main issue of Nigeria. We are suffering from terrorism, let's focus on eradicating it rather than all these side distractions.

AFTERNOON

I rested awhile in the afternoon until I had to help my wife get the new choir clothes that were waybilled to them. The choir will look good in the uniform next week Sunday.
Since my wife was not around, I had to get noodles for my son who was crying and wouldn't want to eat soup. I cooked for him, and joined him to eat it. This was about 2:37pm. I called my wife to come home soon. As she got home, I had my bath and rushed to the football venue. Other executive members were there already. It was amazing that the field was used for burial even when it was assigned to us for the tournament. This was so frustrating but we had to calm ourselves down and thought of how to handle the situation amicably.

They finished the burial and went for internment while music and entertainment were left for those who remained to be taken care of within the venue. We had to speak to the family to fasten up and remove all the decorations, canopies and chairs. The was not left out in the packing order.
What stood out for me in field was the obedience and even the officials of the match joining to clear the pitch for the match to start on time.

EVENING

The opening was tournament was delayed until 5:09pm.
The Salvation Army played against The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria in Akwa Ibom State. The tournament is organized by the Christian Council of Nigeria Youth Wing (YOWICCN) Akwa Ibom State Chapter. The goal is to bring the youths together. It's for evangelism with prizes stake for the winners on the last day. The match was disrupted by heavy rain during shoot outs. Both teams were determined to win, preventing the opponent from scoring. Both we unable to find the back of the net before the final whistle. When the rain nightfall challenged the penalty shootout, the center referee decided to end the match. It was inconclusive. The organizers will know how to pull that up.

The rain was very heavy we all ran into the primary school class rooms to find shade. I left after the rain subsided. By 7:36pm, I was in the house while expecting my family to be back from church, I had to wait outside. Straight to the kitchen for dinner as she came back.
All together my day was engaging and stressful especially in the evening.

Stay cool until I come your way again.
