I joined Steem 5 months ago in July 2016 and have learnt quite a few things. I first heard about Steem on a bitcoin forum, bitcointalk.org. Steem had just started becoming popular at that time. On joining the first thing I did was the learn the basics and after that I started reading a few posts over here. I stumbled upon a question post by user @daf and knowing the answer I posted it in the comment section. A few hours later I noticed that it said 50$ for payout.  A day later I received my payout and was really happy and excited.
