I think a lot of people do try to stop death by living healthily. Often we are told this or that will kill you, or avoiding this will help you live longer. But if living longer - often just months costs pain or dignity is it worth it? That said my father had lung cancer at the age of 57. He lived a good life with one lung for another 19 (until another cancer got him). I guess it is difficult to know what is worth doing until it is done (or not).

All the more reason to live in the moment, which I find easier to do with age. There are so many people answering this question with something like that, if you are living mindfully (I confess idk what that really is - am I not always mindful?) in the moment, death is not even a thing.
