I am going to see if I can order some elecampane root to make my own tincture here. It really sounds like a wonder herb and one I need in my herbal first aid kit. Xx

Six weeks in 100 proof :)
I wonder if it makes a difference what type of alcohol you use...
@alchemage!!! Professional advice needed! What difference would there be between tinctures with 100 proof vodka, 190 proof everclear, and say, whiskey or homegrown shine?

Whiskey has adulterants from aging in barrels which imbues the brown color. It’s always best to use clear liquors imo. The difference in using 50% & 95% ABV is the ratio of water available to extract water soluble compounds. I know very little about elecampane so idk what’s best to use, though a little research goes a long way.
Awesome, so using 100 proof can help extract water solubles at the same time? With my turkeytails I intend to do a double decoction, so I imagine it won't matter a whole lot that I used the 190 proof.
