Corn with Coconut Or Corn with Pear, which do you prefer?

Just as the holy bible made us to know, there is a season for every thing under the earth. One of such season is the season of planting and the season of harvesting. Every year, farmers plant many kinds of crops and they also harvest the various crops they planted.

In this season, corn is currently been harvested in my country, precisely the south eastern part of Nigeria. Different varieties of corn such as the white corn, the yellow corn and the red corn are harvested this time around. These corn harvested and been eaten at this 6th month of the year, most of them were planted between February and March.

There are two major ways corn could be prepared to be eaten. You can either boil the corn or by roasted to eat the corn. For me, I normally choose to boil the corn. Boiling it gives me a sweet taste that makes corn to be a nutritious food. This sweet taste is gotten when salt is added to the corn while boiling it. This sweet taste is not obtained when the corn is roasted. So boiling and roasting the corn have different taste to give.

There is another important aspect to also point out as far as eating corn is concerned. This has to do with what could be eaten together with corn. To some people, they prefer to eat the corn alone. To others, they may choose to eat the corn either with coconut or pear. Eating the corn with either coconut or pear would also give a different taste.

Eating corn with coconut gives a sweet taste and adds more nutritional value to it. Since coconut contains some of the needed nutrients required in food, this makes it to go down well with the corn as it been eaten together.

The pear has its own nutritional benefits when it is combined with the corn to be eaten. To those who use pear to eat corn, they say the pear provides a sweet taste of natural butter. Pear is loaded with nutrients that supports the corn to to give a healthy tasteful food.

But there is something that has changed about the pear. Before now, between February and March, pears are already everywhere and people would be wanting for the harvesting of corn. That is, the pears starts to fruit and mature between February to late April and eaten along with corn. Now this is no longer obtainable. The pears now starts to fruit late May and gets to mature late July to August. By this time, the corn is finished. Even as the corn is now available every where, pears are still in short supply and costly.

The above case is not the same with coconut. Coconut is richly available throughout the months in the year. Immediately corn matures, coconut is just ready to go down with the corn.

As the corn season is here now, In every family corn, coconut or pear are now farm produce that are easily combined together to serve as food in the family. It is often consumed as lunch or taken as dinner.

I prefer eating the corn with pear. Using coconut to eat corn is somewhat stressful to me.

What do you prefer to eat your corn with, coconut or pear? Let's share more about it.
