Bird's Day - what a joke
April 1st was Bird Day, and this overlap has something to say, in its own way. Birds are the creatures we care about the most, compared to other animals. I've never heard of snake day, spider day, chilopoda day, fish day, damn day… but probably bird day doesn't attract much attention either. Nobody, almost.
Birds can give us an image of the general state of the environment, of biodiversity, being some indicators of the realities in ecosystems, in landscapes. In recent decades, about which we have some numerical data that can be analyzed, the trend is very clear: the decline of bird populations.
There may be some positive elements, some species recovering from the disappearance of landscapes; in Europe three decades ago the crow was quite rare and today it is a fairly well represented species; the traveling hawk was almost extinct, now it is present in quite a few abilities that are favorable to it. But these are the positive exceptions. And few. The general trend of populations, most of the common birds, shows a general decline throughout Europe. It is not about natural fluctuations of populations, but about a general decline: nature dies around us.
The reality is that for birds as a whole, man is an extraordinary nuisance. Man has eradicated several species from them, and in the vast majority of those that remain, population dimensions are a small fraction of what they were if there were no human species. Many are critically endangered with extinction, de facto being represented by extremely few specimens. There are also a few species that have found a suitable environment in what we do - for example, those that gather to feed on large landfills. The human attitude towards birds can be perceived the most if you see what is the style of killing them, with pleasure. For example, see that in Europe several hundred thousand crows are legally killed every year. If you look at the list approved by government structures, the number of species and the number of specimens that will be legally killed in that year, you realize that we do not deserve any place on this planet.
Thanks.

They are all beautiful ... but the second ...
