In harmony with nature: Mabon (the day of the autumn equinox)
Today is the day of the autumn equinox. This is the second day of the year, when the duration of the day is equal to the duration of the night. And I want to turn our attention again to the forces of nature that are important for our life.
With the day of the autumnal equinox, one of the holidays of the cycle of the Wheel of the Year is associated - Mabon.
The name of this holiday comes from the name of the god Mabon.
Mabon is the second harvest festival. The main harvesting work has already been completed. In the fields there were only plants that are not afraid of frost. Their turn will come to the end of October. Now it's time for fairs. This is also a good period for gifts to each other.
Starting from this day, the nights will get longer, and the days are shorter. There is another ancient legend - Myth of Proserpine, connected with this. It has no direct relationship to Wicca, but it illustrates the cycles well.
As we have already said, the main gender roles of this period are the Wise Old Woman and the Wise Old Man. In addition to working on personal growth, during this period it is good to communicate with older relatives. Maybe they are a little behind the times in our understanding, and they do not even have an account on Steemit :), but they have invaluable life experience and worldly wisdom.

At the moment I am going through the checklist for Mabon. Number 1 is the main one for today... I have so much "stuff" that I have kept because "it might just come in handy one day, and it is too good to throw out".... (but it won't ever be used again if I am honest).

I'm glad you liked it. I like the Wiccan practices. Although I do not like that some modern authors try to present them in such a way that a woman is too dependent on a man and should please him. It is not true. God and Goddess in these practices are equal partners.
You certainly have that right. And Wicca is a natural harmonious way of living that respects life.
