Daily Nature Fix: Abstract Nature - Inside a Glacier. (Original Photos)
Hi fellow nature fans! Tonight's Daily Nature Fix is going to be another collection of naturally abstract photos. I've done a few of these over the past year:
Daily Nature Fix: Abstract Nature. (Original Photos)
Daily Nature Fix: Abstract Earth. - The Textures of Nature. (Original Photos)
However, all of tonights photos are from our time inside an ice cave inside the Vatnajökell Glaicer of eastern Iceland. I was just looking at the photos from this tour and a lot of them were just shapes and colors making it tricky to figure out what was going on. Makes them perfect for an abstract post!
^^^It took me a bit to realize what this one was. It's looking down a small tunnel that we had to climb through. The top is glacial ice, the bottom is volcanic rock and sand, and the background shows an area illuminated by a small hole in the ceiling of the cave. You can see some snow laying on the cave floor that managed to work it's way in.
^^^This is the ceiling of the cave. The bunches of little indents were formed from little bits of black sand caught in the ice that warm up faster than the ice itself.
^^^Here is a close up of the wall of the cave. I tried to capture the depth of trapped air bubbles, but it didn't turn out great. You can see blurry pockets of air several feet into the ice wall, and they eventually disappeared into a deep blueish black nothingness.
^^^The ceiling once again.

My favorite was the 3rd picture.
Mine too! Good taste, @mattt
Really cool looking shots. It almost looks like you're underwater and not ice!
I didn't notice it all, but you're absolutely right @mr-gimme-wiggles. Now that's all I can see! lol
Beautiful post 😊 @customnature just give you up vote
Beautiful! I love the ocean. It's crazy hoe 90% of the ocean hasn't been explored
I agree, but this isn't the ocean. It's inside a glacier!
True =p
