Into the wild

in #nature5 years ago (edited)

A while ago I had the opportunity to go on a hike into one of the wildest parts of the mountains and to enjoy the true untouched nature. Walking without a pathway in the mountains is not easy and it is my favourite way to exhaust my body, to free my mind and to satisfy my constant nature cravings. I actually thought that there was some pathway there, but I was wrong. I started my hike from 1500m and my initial goal was a peak 2700m high but I only managed to reach a nice meadow around 2000m before realizing that things are too different from what I expected and to figure out and admit that that peak requires a lot more time, preparation and efforts. I wasn't disappointed, at least now I know more about the place and what to expect for the next time. It took me more than 6 hours to go there and to come back. 6 hours for only 500 meters altitude is a lot - that was because the terrain was pretty hard to overcome.

Someone made a trek to the peak and I had it, but something was probably very wrong with it and following it took me several times to places from where I wasn’t sure that I would be able to come back but fortunately I did. I had to pass through stone rivers, high arduous rocks, plenty of little waterfalls and dense woods. My reward for the efforts were sights that very few people have seen, and I would like to share a piece of that wild paradise with you.

That peak is above a forbidden to pass by water zone and a dam so at first I was walking close to its fence and once I was higher I could see one of the buildings there, but I didn't reach any point with a view of the dam. I had only my phone for photos and photography was not that much on my mind, as I was in ”surviving” mode. I had to be very careful. Still here and there it was impossible not to make a photo or two.

On my way down there was a thunderstorm and a rainfall to make the day even more interesting, so I was grateful that I had decided to come back.
I came down looking probably like I had a fight with someone with scratches and bruises all over my body but with a big smile on my face - nature/mountains cravings satisfied ✔️. When I was almost near my car near the barrier of the water zone I met a Japanese(probably) couple that looked pretty confused and I asked them if they needed help. They were very sweet, dressed like for a city walk and the girl looked exactly like a doll with big widely opened eyes, red lips, ribbon in her hair, jeans and sandals, so inappropriate for that remote wild place. They asked me how to go to the peaks above us and I told them there was no way, but apparently they didn't believe me and continued to the forest. I just thought about my last 6 hours and laughed, their cute look and the wilderness of the area made such a big contrast. If someone had told me that I can't go, I also wouldn't have believed him!

Thanks a lot for sharing this story with us.

I know the sentiment. Both with off path hiking and with not many photos to show 😀

Excellent photos :)

Ahaha I wonder if (and hope that) the Japanse couple was okay!

Great photos, and thanks for sharing!

"...at least now I know more about the place and what to expect for the next time."

Great attitude to have. If at first we don't succeed!

Thank you very much for your comment :) I am sure they were fine, they could not have gone too far equipped like that.
It is like that with the mountains, sometimes you only try.

Good to know you made it back to safety. I've had several experiences of this kind and all I could tell - thanks god it is over!

Thanks a lot for your comment, @blastik! Good to hear from you :) I thought the same when I came down, but it would take me no more than a week and I will be ready mentally to try again :D
