The Midnight Magic

Something fascinating and peaceful about watching the night sky at the time when all the rest of the world sleeps.

One seems to see an exclusive performance by the universe only for those who manage to stay awake. Last night, having looked out of the window, I saw the moon hiding behind clouds which were moving across the sky. This impressive and amazing sight made me pick up my camera and capture this moment.

Looking at the first picture, one can say that the sky itself seems to be full of various details. First of all, the full moon can be seen shining bright like a very powerful light bulb and shining through the hole in the dark clouds.

There is also a rather warm and nice amber glow beneath the moon on the horizon, which contrasts with the blue color of the upper part of the sky. At the bottom of the photo, one can notice a little green lens flare next to the moon. The branches of winter trees are clearly visible on the foreground.

As for the second photo, I opted for a black-and-white version where I removed all colors just to highlight the feelings that are inherent to the night. Everything turns into something timeless, almost gothic in the absence of blue and golden hues.

Now your eyes are attracted only by the stark contrast of the white moon against the dark shades of the clouds and trees. The tree branches appear even more striking when set against a monochrome background, as if old fingers reaching out for light.

Taking these two photos was an amazing experience that made me realize that regardless of whether it is a pitch-black night outside, there will be light that will lead us.

No matter how much the clouds hide from us, the moon will still shine right above the clouds. And every time when we face chaos and confusion in our lives, viewing these photos makes us realize that there is always peace of the night.
