How to photograph your garden - part 1
Putting your plants in the best light requires more than understanding sun exposure. It's a craft you learn in the same trial method you learned to garden, but you have one advantage: you are a gardener. Gardeners, by design, know how to get down close to their subjects - they do it daily inspecting for damage. Gardeners understand shadow and light. And most of all, we have learned to discern shades of color. How many variations of green can you recognize? :)
Tip 1: avoid harsh lighting when attempting to capture detail.
If you want a high definition shot of an insect or flower, especially at closer range, aim for a time at dawn, late afternoon for insects. Cloudy days are even better.
