How to photograph your garden - part 2

in #nature7 years ago

Depth of field isn't just a farmer's measure of his planted acreage but a photographers' s valuable tool of directing the viewer's gaze. That's really what you are after: ability to fixate another's gaze.
So what is Depth of Field? It is capturing depth perception in a two dimensional medium. This is, on a purely mechanical scale, done by manipulation of focus and focal points.
Tip 2: to create depth find a point of focus and manipulate the focus of the items in the foreground and/or the background. The less focused these become the more the viewers depth of perception is altered.

Example: The mushroom photo is only focused on the furthest point of the cap. Even the fore part of the cap is slightly out of focus. Of course, the plants just behind the mushroom also are blurred at a greater amount, providing the viewer with a sense of distance and "depth." The mushroom is significantly more enhanced and textured when the entire cap is not in focus.

I like how you try to explain this. My advice is to work on the formatting of your post to make it more readable. Seperate in clear paragraphs with their own header title if needed. Other than that, keep it up!

I appreciate your help. Could you send me an example?

If you go to my profile and see my latest post, you will see what I mean. I quickly learned being here that readability is very important here.

Will do. Thank you.

nice shots @kim-senergy! Upvoted and followed.
