Moss with spore pods ready to liftoff.
Some mosses propagate via means of spores and these are held in spore pods until ripe and ready for dispersal.
The pod are elevated slightly above the moss bed where when they open the spores will catch the wind and be spread far and wide.
These are drying out nicely and almost ready to launch the next generation.
Whoa this is just incredible. I have seen lots of your moss photography and images but this moss is great. It spreads quite vast and get lifted too. The spores open to get some wind and spread even more. Thanks for sharing this good photography.
