Empress Falls Early morning, Valley of the Waters
View from the base of the fall, this morning, in mist and light rain. The fall was running with overnight rain. The climb down to this point is exhilarating, whether by abseil through Empress Canyon or down the ladders from the Nature Conservation Hut. Access deeper into the valley (Sylvia, Lodore and Flat Rock Falls) has been closed at the base of Empress Falls due to rock fall. Because of the need for rebuilding the track in places, which is risky, it may be a while before it is reopened.
