How Much Wood Could Woody Peck?
Much to my parent's dismay, the answer is a lot! Look at that wood fly! Unfortunately I was too far away to capture the sound woodpeckers make when they are working. That's also why the camera is so shaky. It's hard to keep the video still at 70 times zoom.

I was actually surprised at the size of this bird. After doing some research I found out why. This species of woodpecker, the Pileated Woodpecker, is the largest member of the family in north america. This one was the size of a large crow.
Given it's size, this pecker has clearly been feasting a lot. Just look at all of that damage. 😐

Okay, I'm just going to say it. That's a huge pecker!
The bird is gorgeous and though I'm happy to see this beauty in your vid (love the head tilts while it's banging away), that poor tree is looking like swiss cheese.
Your slow-mo edit and sound effect at the end was a great touch. 😁
Glad you finally got dtube to work. 😠
Wait there's a sound effect? I didn't even realize that. I have to watch it again all the way to the end. I must have forgotten to mute the video when doing the slow-mo. 😂

I have rarely seen a pileated woodpecker, but I do know they are an impressive bird. We usually have flickers around, and there is one corner of the house where they like to "drill" every spring. I'm surprised there isn't major damage by now.
I had seen this same type of woodpecker(maybe the same one) a couple of years ago. But I didn't have my camera with me. I don't think it took this one long to do this damage.
